  • All Office 365 users now get 1 terabyte of storage, up from the previous 20GB allocation.
  • Office 365 Personal subscribers get 1TB of storage for $6.99/month
  • Office 365 Home subscribers get individual storage of 1TB for up to five people for $9.99/month
  • Microsoft also is reducing monthly storage subscription fees for users who don't want Office to $1.99 for 100GB from $7.49/month.
  • It is dropping the price on 200GB to $3.99 from $11.49.

Microsoft also announced that it has bolstered the security of several of its products, bringing stronger encryption tools to its OneDrive and Outlook.com services.

Protect your Android device from Malware

Mobile malware is on the rise and your device could be at risk. These tips could help you stay safe and keep your personal information out of the hands of cybercriminals.

The open-source operating system that is led by Google is now found on more than half of all smartphones. Mobile malware can allow cybercriminals to intercept messages, monitor calls, steal personal information, and even listen in with the device's microphone.

if there is an update for your device make sure you download and install it. Manufacturers, carriers, and Google are constantly pushing out updates with bug fixes, enhancements, and new features that can make your device more secure.

Make sure the app you are downloading is legitimate. One of the best defenses against malware is to notice things like suspicious apps with outrageous promises, bad reviews, and sketchy app permissions.

Only 5 percent of smartphones and tablets have some sort of antivirus program installed. Consider buying and installing a reputable mobile device anti-virus software.

Hurricane Season Preparedness

Unfortunately, this 4th of July may be a washout due to the impending effects of Hurricane Arthur. But it is a chance for us to remind our clients about weather preparedness in terms of your equipment. It is a good idea to make sure you are prepared before a power outage.

In the event of a big storm, we suggest you consider shutting down all your servers and workstations, as well as your phone system, to reduce the risk of damage. Power outages (and the spikes that often happen when power returns) are one of the most common causes of equipment damage and the consequent productivity loss. A planned outage means you know when your systems go down and when they come back up, and usually makes the process less impactful to the business.
