SkyKick is HIPAA certified

Our Office 365 backup partner, SkyKick has recently announced that their Cloud Backup and the Email Migration Suites are now compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework. The certifications provide additional assurance that sensitive customer data is being handled securely around the globe.

While their products have always been in line with these important regulations, they wanted to make it even easier for partners like us to work within these specific compliance frameworks and this only furthers our commitment to meeting industry certification standards. We are pleased to work with a partner who shares our dedication to data security and privacy. For more information feel free to reach out to your account manager.

Dynamics 365 upgrades

Microsoft is rolling out upgrades to its specialized business software that integrates data from LinkedIn, the online company they acquired for $26 billion dollars last year. The new features of Dynamics 365 will comb through a salesperson's email, calendar and LinkedIn relationships to help gauge how warm their relationship is with a potential customer. The system will recommend ways to save an at-risk deal, like calling in a co-worker who is connected to the potential customer on LinkedIn.

Microsoft's bigger vision is to have all their cloud products take advantage of a common set of business data that can be mined for new insights with artificial intelligence. Microsoft will also continue offering certain LinkedIn data to other companies including Salesforce, as LinkedIn did before its acquisition. Contact your sales rep for more info.

SMBs at higher risk for attacks

Ransomware dominated the cyber threat landscape in 2016, costing businesses more than one billion dollars. Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are extremely vulnerable to these attacks, and they often pay the price, since they don't have the means, or don't know how, to combat these threats. The average ransom is in the $500 to $2,000 range, up a bit from the past couple of years. But even when a company pays the ransom, it only gets its original files back about two-thirds of the time.

Moreover, hackers are evolving their techniques to get around traditional security protections. SMBs should ensure that they have good remote backups of their data. Mounted drives often are not effective against ransomware because when an attack happens, attackers also typically go after the mounted drives and hijack the data there. A backup service into a cloud might be more effective. Integrated IT Solutions has a variety of solutions for all business sizes. Visit our managed backup page to view our offerings.
