Microsoft 365

At their annual partner conference in July, Microsoft announced a new product called Microsoft 365. Microsoft 365 Business brings together features from across Microsoft’s offerings in a solution designed for small and medium-sized businesses. It’s powered by Office 365 and Windows 10, with device management and security features to help ensure your company’s data is protected. The preview is being released August 2nd and will be generally available in the coming months. For $20 per user per month, Microsoft 365 Business helps companies achieve more together by better connecting employees and customers, it empowers employees to get work done from anywhere, on any device, and protects company data across these devices with always-on security.

Axcient - eFolder merger

eFolder, a cloud provider of data protection solutions, and Axcient, a leader in Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service solutions announced their merger in July. By bringing together the strengths of both Axcient and eFolder, the combined company will be able to service business with a broader set of solutions designed to maximize IT availability and employee productivity.

We look forward to seeing what new features Axcient, our longtime partner in disaster recovery solutions, introduces in the coming months. We're told it's business as usual for now, but exciting things are coming as their integrate eFolder's technology portfolio into their offering.

Office 2007 End of Life

On October 10, 2017, Microsoft Office 2007 will reach End of Life. If you haven't already begun to upgrade your Office 2007 environment, we recommend you consult us for help as soon as possible. Office 2007 is 10 years old and as such, Microsoft stops providing new features, technical support for issues, bug fixes and security updates for vulnerabilities that are discovered.

In addition and most importantly, as of October 31, 2017, Outlook 2007 will be unable to connect to Office 365 mailboxes which means Outlook 2007 clients using Office 365 will not be able to receive and send mail. RPC over HTTP (aka Outlook Anywhere) will be deprecated in Exchange Online in favor of MAPI over HTTP, a modern protocol that was launched in May 2014. Contact us to see if this applies to your business.
